Rowboat Classroom is home to freely available standards-aligned curriculum, written by experts in their field, delivered live and in real time to classrooms worldwide. Adventure: Mississippi River (AMR) and Adventure: Columbia River (ACR) are our fall semester flagship expedition, blending technology with real-life adventure to reach students both locally and beyond the River watershed with science, technology, engineering, arts, and math – or STEAM – curriculum. AMR returns live fall semester 2016, but curriculum is available anytime. Follow our pilot program down Washington State’s Columbia River, launching September 23, 2015.
Rowboat classroom aims to inspire students to experience an adventure in their local environment, understand the potential environmental impacts of their actions, and engage the rich history and diversity of species along big river watersheds. The curriculum will be designed around the research-based Adventure Learning approach and delivered direct to classrooms via live visits, online webinars, and through the latest cloud-based technologies – all enhanced with cultural and community connections to this important river.
The online environment developed for AMR/ACR supports student interaction and collaboration with the greater AMR/ ACR community (students, adventurers, scientists and the public).
